San Juán de Ulúa and the biggest aquarium in Mexico , one of the most important in Latin America are some of the most interesting sights of this marvelous place of the State of Veracruz, where you will see the marine world and a part of our state that is in full development.
San Juán de Ulúa is the name of a small island of Mexico where a centenary fortress and a port (by the same name) are located. It´s construction was planned by the soldiers commanded by Hernán Cortés in April 22, 1519, within the context of the discovery of América and the attacks of pirates and corsairs of that time against Spain.
The complex and the island are located fronting the Gulf of Mexico , in the city and port of Veracruz, in the Mexican state that bears the same name.
The Veracruz Aquarium, in the city of Veracruz, is the largest in Mexico . It has 9 areas: the Jungle of the Tuxtlas, a sweet water gallery, a salt water gallery, a reef pond, the shark pond, the manatee pond, the medusae pond, the dolphin pool and the museum.
